Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has reportedly picked up 12% stake in the Rajasthan Royals, the champion team of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. IPL is one of the premier Twenty20 cricket tournaments organized in the world and the last season saw bollywood stars, Shahrukhkhan and Preety Zinta, having their own cricket team. While SRK wholly owned Kolkata Knight Riders, Preety along with Nusil Wadia owned the Kings XI Punjab.

Even teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Superkings and Bangalore Royals, owned by established industrialists, saw host of bollywood celebrities being roped in as brand ambassadors. Rajasthan Royals, the underdogs of last edition won the championship and therefore lot is expected out of them this year

Under this circumstances, Shilpa has paid over USD 15.4 million (approx INR 75 crore) along with his business partner Raj Kundra. Terming it as a strategic investment, Shilpa is hopeful of fetching a decent return
